Word couldn’t send mail because of MAPI failure: “Operation not Supported”
Posted under MS Outlook, Software by ifoundafixThe other day while browsing the Internet, I Found A Fix for a recent problem I was having. The issue is described as follows;
I was unable to email documents, excel files, etc from within Microsoft Office using the File, Send to option that usually sends via Microsoft Outlook. I received the error “word couldn’t send mail because of MAPI failure: “Operation not Supported” “.
You may also receive “General mail failure. Quit Microsoft Office Excel, restart the mail sytem, and try again”.
The solution and description to this error is set out below;
I was able to repair the probelm by locating ‘fixmapi.exe’ in the C:\winnt\system32 or C:\windows\system32. Simply double-click Fixmapi.exe to repair.
Alternatively, Open Control Panel, Add-Remove programs, locate Microsoft Office version X, Click on Change and initiate a repair of the installation.
I Hope you too have Found A Fix !!
Excellent Tip. This helped fix a Groupwise issue on a
Windows 2003 Terminal Server with the same problem. Thanks
Worked great on an Office 2010 install experiencing the same problems!
Thanks for the tip, worked on Office 2007 perfectly!
This solution didn’t work for me. What I ended up doing was installing mozilla thunderbird and making that the default mail application. Customer was running windows 8.
Awesome fix. I went in through the Control Panel and repaired Office 2010 and my mail now works!
I had same error messages on 4 pc’s and only fix was that
1. Closed all programs
2. I deleted MSMAPI folder from c:\Program files (x86)\Common files\System
3. Started Outlook > waited it to reconfigure and then it started to work
I am using Office 2010 and windows 7.
I was able to fix this issue doing the following:
Go to “CONTROL PANEL”
Select “ACCOUNTS”
Select: “CHANGE USER ACCOUNT CONTROL SETTINGS”
Move the bar down to the bottom where it says “NEVER MOTIFY ME”
good it worked for me.
There is an easy solution, just do the following- it worked for me:
1.You should rename Msmapi32.dll located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033 or C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033
2.Right-click the MSMapi32.dll file, and then click Rename.
3.Type Msmapi32.old, and then press ENTER to rename the file.
4.Restart Word 2010.
